New Believers

I want to welcome you to the Christian family. It is a tremendous thing to know that God, the Creator of the universe, loves us. As you now know, He not only loves us, but He sent His Son Jesus to die for us, to free us from all of our sins. What a joy it is to live a life free from the grip of sin. Now that you have made decision to follow Jesus, there are some important things to remember about your new life.

As a believer in the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, you have been born again (John 3:1-21), and He has given you a brand new start (2 Corinthians 5:17, Lamentations 3:22, 23) and a brand new life. It will take time to grow strong in this new relationship with God. God is faithful (Philippians 1:6) to supply all of your needs, emotional, spiritual, and physical, through His love and the power of His Holy Spirit.

You have taken the most important step a person can take by receiving Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. As you have taken the first step in knowing Him now it is important to allow Him to be the Lord of your life. One of the most essential aspects of your new relationship through Jesus will be reading the Bible. There is a daily reading schedule linked on this page to help you develop a regular devotional life. (2Timothy 2:15, Hebrews 4:12, Psalm 19:7, Psalm 119:105).

In addition to your daily reading it is important to spend time in prayer. You will quickly learn how He wants to comfort and encourage you in any need that you have (Psalm 119:114, Psalm 55:22, Psalm 27:4-5, 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Luke 18:1). Please understand that prayer is the opportunity we have to communicate freely with the living God.

Finally, I would encourage you to be involved in a Bible teaching church with other Christians. This will help you in your life as you grow in the knowledge of the Bible and your relationship with your savior. One of the common problems wee in new Christians is a falling away from the Lord because they don't have Christian friends to encourage and support them. You must realize Satan is not happy you chose to follow God and he will try and discourage you any way he can. So, when we attend church we have others who will come alongside of us to pray with and encourage us(Hebrews 10:22-25).

We at Calvary Chapel Victorville are rejoicing with the angels in heaven over your salvation and new relationship with Jesus. We are available to help you as you begin your walk with Him and support you in any way that would cause you to grow in your new faith.

God Bless You,
